About Me
Admittedly, I’m “One Nutty Lady”…and loving it!
After multiple careers in education, training and development,
insurance, banking and finance, financial planning, and most
recently over 20 years in the real estate industry, I’ve embarked on
yet another career in specialty foods as “One Nutty Lady”.
I’ve always loved cooking! I grew up in a large Italian family in
Batavia, NY where my grandparents had an Italian
restaurant, so food has always played an important role in my life.
Everyone was always cooking, eating, entertaining, or planning the
next wonderful meal.
It seems that everything I’ve done in my life to now has
prepared me for this nutty new venture. Of course, the best
preparation of all was motherhood—the ultimate training ground for
multi-tasking! I’m proud that my son and daughter are both
well-adjusted, successful adults who survived growing up with
parents who were both teachers and who created a learning laboratory
focused on creativity and discovery…and where things were rarely
done the same way twice!
And I’ve found that grandparenthood is even better than
parenthood! I like to tell others, “If I’d known grandchildren were
so much fun, I’d have had grandchildren first!” For the past several
years my husband, Paul, and I have enjoyed having our grandson right
next door to us. Even though he’ll soon be off to college, we expect
to still see a lot of him, as he’ll continue to contribute to our
nutty family business with marketing ideas.
Having reached that “senior” time in life, I now have more time
to cook for enjoyment and experiment with new ideas. I’m also
striving to improve my diet to stay healthy, manage my weight, and
reduce stress. I’ve discovered the many healthy benefits of nuts and
want to share them with you.
One of the secrets of my own weight management regimen is to
snack on a handful of nuts about an hour before mealtime to keep my
hunger at bay—I find that I eat less because I’m satisfied sooner! I
love to relax and enjoy sharing a simple meal with family and
friends. I also love to share favorite recipes with friends and will
do so on from time to time on this website, so check back to see
what’s cooking!
I’m
also finally incorporating regular physical exercise into my
life…and I find that I actually enjoy it! I find that Yoga and
knitting are also great stress relievers.
Volunteer work has also always been a big part of my life. I
enjoy volunteering as much as I enjoy working—and want to try to
give something back to others and make a difference. So, whether
it’s the Cape Coral Charter
School District or the
American Cancer Society, you’ll find me involved and pitching in to
help. Paul and I have also provided food to our local American
Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life” Team for the past several years.
Most of all, I like to laugh a lot. When life gives you nuts,
make nut butter! Don’t sweat the small stuff—and, don’t forget it’s
all small stuff! Never “should” on anyone…especially yourself.
Life’s too short not to be happy and enjoy every day to the max.
That’s one of the reasons I married Paul—he makes me laugh! He loves
to tell everyone about his One Nutty Lady adding, with a grin, “I drove her
to it!”
So, live life to the fullest, laugh a lot, and improve your
health by adding some nuts to your diet! Enjoy!
